MS. MELINDA MANNING’S OFFICIAL VISIT AT THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE TO ENHANCE COOPERATION BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF SRI LANKA AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Strong and powerful ideas bring nations together and assistance from allies and friends is deeply valued in the global process of mitigating the threat of Transnational Organized Crimes including Human Trafficking in Sri Lanka.

Following the diplomatic path extending their support for the nation’s internal security, the officials Ms. Melinda Manning and Ms. Anamika Chakravorty from the United States Embassy in Sri Lanka paid an official visit at the Ministry of Defence on 09 December 2022 to meet and discuss the assistance and support that may be provided in future for combating the threat of Human Trafficking and in preparing the TIP Report for the year 2023 onwards. This meeting was conducted between the US Embassy officials and Major General JR Kulatunga, Chief of National Intelligence and the Internal Committee members of the National Anti Human Trafficking Task Force (NAHTTF).

During the discussion, Ms. Manning and Ms. Anamika Chakravorty were pleased to mention that the Embassy of the United States of America will not hesitate to provide assistance including technical as and when required in future for the sustainable development of Four Pillars leading to Tier 1 target in the grading for the TIP Report.
