The Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA) has successfully concluded the first session of a three-day training program for administrative Gramaniladari officers, focusing on the Identification and Response to Human Trafficking. Held from October 23 to 25 October 2024, this initiative was conducted in collaboration with the National Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force (NAHTTF) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The training aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of divisional-level public sector officials, enabling them to inform the public, implement preventive measures, and improve the protection and welfare of victims.
A total of 57 Administrative Gramaniladari Officers participated in the training, completing it successfully. Equipped with new insights and strategies, these officers are now prepared to act as frontline responders against human trafficking in their communities. The program emphasizes effective communication, victim protection, and the implementation of preventative measures to combat this serious issue.
As human trafficking remains a significant global challenge, this training program exemplifies the commitment to building a knowledgeable and responsive public service. SLIDA, in collaboration with NAHTTF and IOM, continues to strengthen efforts to safeguard vulnerable populations and empower public officials to take action. Future training sessions will further expand this crucial initiative, promoting awareness and response capabilities among public sector officials.
